LA Van Delivers 8,800 pounds of Fresh Food to Needy Families
The Los Angeles-based van for Order of Malta Mobile Ministries (https://maltamobileministries.org/) delivers fresh fruits and vegetables three to four days a week from partner charity Food Forward to Los Angeles’ neediest communities. Food Forward fights hunger and prevents food waste by rescuing fresh surplus produce, connecting this abundance with people experiencing food insecurity, and inspiring others to do the same (https://foodforward.org/). Mobile Ministries also delivers hygiene kits for the homeless assembled by LA Region volunteers. LA Region recently delivered 8,793 pounds of fresh produce to food pantry programs run by Proyecto Pastoral at Dolores Mission (https://dolores-mission.org/pastoral-project) and St. Peter’s Italian Catholic Church in DTLA (https://www.facebook.com/StScalabrini2022), and also delivered over 700 hygiene kits for the homeless. Mobile Ministries and LA Region are grateful to partner with Food Forward, Proyecto Pastoral, and St. Peter’s Italian Catholic Church to serve the poor and needy.
