Delivering Fresh Food to LA’s Needy

Order of Malta Mobile Ministries delivers fresh fruits and vegetables three to four days a week from partner charity Food Forward to Los Angeles’ neediest communities. Food Forward fights hunger and prevents food waste by rescuing fresh surplus produce, connecting this abundance with people experiencing food insecurity, and inspiring others to do the same. LA Region recently delivered over 4,500 pounds of fruits and vegetables to the food pantry program run by Proyecto Pastoral at Dolores Mission, which provides training, education, and social services within the Boyle Heights district of East Los Angeles. “The Order is grateful to Food Forward and Proyecto Pastoral for helping us deliver hope to the poor and needy”, said Mobile Ministries president Tim Shannon, KM.
