June 4, 2024

A well-attended First Saturday, with 32 Dames, Knights, Auxiliaries, and guests, opened the month of the Sacred Heart for the Michigan Area.  The June 1 event, held at St. Owen Catholic Church in Bloomfield Hills, included the opportunity for the Sacrament of Reconciliation and recitation of the Rosary, to offer the full First Saturday devotion.

Also at the First Saturday event, John Juriga, KM, and Sean Shriner collected sandwiches and other supplies, later delivering 130 sack lunches to people living on the streets of Detroit as part of the Michigan Area’s “Into the Fire” ministry. The food was supplied by Thomas Larabell, KM, and Yvonne Larabell; Marcia McBrien, DM; Chris Rutkowski, KM and Auxiliary June Rutkowski; and Peggy Stanton, DM. Sandwiches were also provided by parishioners and grade school students of St. Edith Parish in Livonia.
